Simlock on my iPhone 5 and provider tells me that there is no simlock on my telephone. How can I remove the simlock?

My iPhone 5 has an simlock, well that is what my iPhone and iTunes are telling me. When I give my imei to the provider he tells me that there is no simlock on my telephone.. How can I remove this? Is there a trick? ~I hope that someone can help me .. Thanks

With all of the information on these forums, it's difficult to believe that proper nomenclature is not used. When you post "simlock", are you attempting to articulate that the iPhone is locked, and you cannot use other carrier's network". A few smaller carriers (Tracphone, for example) use a special sim, and those carriers will not unlock the sim. On the other hand, completely unrelated to the sim, only a carrier can unlock an iPhone and allow you to use another carrier's sim.

Carl the iPhone is locked for other providers .. Normally I can see in settings carrier but that is also not available .. I cannot update carrier by myself i think?! In Holland it is KPN for me that is the only one I can use now. But KPN is telling me that they deliver only simlock free telephone and it's not locked in there opinion. What do you think Carl?
