Is it normal to have 400mb free RAM with all apps closed ?

Since I upgraded my iOS on my iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2 to 9 and then currently 9.1, I noticed that the RAM usage has grown drastically.

I turn off all the things in settings like location service, Siri Suggestion, background apps and ... turn off my iPhone and iPad and turn them on again and check the RAM usage and it shows only 400 Mb is free from 2 GB. and when I open only one or two apps, it will change to 130 mb free RAM.

PS. I Used 3 apps for this test,

1- Wgtds

2- AnTuTu Benchmark

3- iRefresh

they all show the same result.

1. Unless you are experiencing an actual problem or malfunction, what difference does it make?

2. Yes, RAM will still show as "used" when you close an app as iOS retains a cache of recently used apps to facilitate faster loads if you re-launch the program. If something else is launched and that space is needed it will be freed up and reallocated as needed.

I've never understood people's fixation on free RAM. With dynamic memory allocation and smart caching systems, free RAM is more often then not wasted RAM as it indicates an unused or underused system resource. Both iOS and OS X have very good dynamic RAM allocation systems. It is pointless to simply clear RAM when a program is closed unless or until something else actually calls for and needs that memory space.

The amount of free RAM has no affect on performance. There can be ZERO RAM and it still won't affect prrformanc, because iOS is smarter than you are when it comes to memory management. You are better off throwing away all apps that teach RAM usage, because they use system resources and most likely are affecting your performance than the amount of free RAM.
