Q: Phone Freezing Apps

Hi, my friends iphone5c is freezing and losing battery power quickly but it keeps apps logged on. Is this a normal thing to happen and how can this be combatted? He has tried switching it off but it was freezing, it took almost an hour for the phone to eventually log all the apps off. Is this normal?

I see that you are having issues with your iPhone and/or apps freezing. To answer your closing question, no, this isn't normal. I have a couple of articles for you to take a look at for these issues.
First, if it is just an app or two freezing, the first article should be of help for you.
If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

The second is for when the iOS or iPhone as a whole is freezing.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn‘t respond or won‘t turn on
