What external hard disk is recommend for a Mac Pro? I was looking at the G-Drive with Thunderbolt technology but the user reviews on Amazon are terrible.

What are you going to use it for?
A USB 3 connected drive is fast if that is the only drive on the USB bus
Backup and and file storage. Files range from 10 minute long HD video to photographs.
If you do not need very fast transfer and that appears so because of your uses I would get a USB 3 enclosure with HD that has an internal 3 1/5 inch drive (vice a smaller and slower 5400 RPM disk). An enclosure with a 3 1/2 inched will require use power from an wall outlet which is desired.
