Occasionally I would like to Burn CDs with music from my Mac's I Tune library. I have no CD drive and would like to use the one on my wife's Windows desktop/ Is that possible?

Maybe somebody else can provide you with a more positive answer but I suspect that is a bit of a stretch, particularly to a computer running under a different operating system. iTunes probably communicates with the device drivers locally which then talk to the device itself. You would have the drivers speaking Mac talk to the Windows device which it would not understand. Why not just transfer the files to the other computer and burn them from there?
