My computer's iTunes library shows up in the Remote app, but it is greyed out and I can't connect to it. I've only noticed this since the El Capitan upgrade.
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 16 GB RAM
I thought maybe a setting in Remote had gotten changed. But when I click on Settings I get this message:
"To add an iTunes library, open iTunes on you computer and choose Remote from the tab bar."
I'll be damned if I can find a tab marked Remote in iTunes 12.
Home sharing is turned on on both the iMac and iPad.
The answer turns out to be simpler/dumber than expected. After being out of town for a while, when I returned home my iPad auto-logged into a different network than my usual home network. Consequently, I could see my iTunes library but couldn't access it. Hopefully this will serve as a cautionary tale for someone similarly afflicted.
