iCal lost all events

Due to my silliness in volunteering to help a local non-profit, I enabled iCloud on my MacBook Pro (Mavericks) and that somehow deleted all the events in my iCal calendar.

I tried restoring the user/Library/Calendar folder from the last TimeMachine backup before the iCloud debacle. Nothing.

I tried signing out of iCloud and restoring again. Nothing.

I tried deleting and restablishing the Google account. Nothing. (All events are still visible on the Google calendar.)

I tried exporting from the Google calendar, but iCal won't import.

I tried setting up a calDEV account. Still couldn't get iCal to get the events from Google.

I must admit I'm stumped.
