I do not receive txt forward message on ipad why?

Before the latest software update to iOS 9.1, I was able to receive txt msgs on my iPhone and iPad simultaneously. Since this update, I have not been able to link my iPhone and iPad. When I try to do so, I do not receive the txt forwarding code on my iPad. I have tried to clear the passwords, turn off the machines, reset the msg and facetime to no avail. Any suggestions?
