Apple TV 3 (early 2012) randomly stopped connecting to the internet. It was working fine until a few days ago. I have reset it and restored it and it still won't work. It sees all the networks but keeps telling me there is an error in connecting.

If you haven't reset your router yet, try it and see what happens.

Try Ethernet
Test on another network
It seemed to work on ethernet, but not on another network. The problem is that I can't easily continue to use ethernet.
You would be taking it to another location to test on another network, however if it's working on Ethernet that suggests there is an issue with your wifi network.
I guess I haven't actually tested another network.
What's odd is that everything else on the network, including another Apple TV 3, is working just fine.
If you have another ATV on the same network, and it's working just fine, then it should be the Apple TV’s issue.
How about resetting ATV via iTunes?
Another device working won't rule out the wifi issue, if it persists on another network then that would point to the ATV
