Q: Unable to attach pictures to Facebook, Skype and other programs

I am a new Macbook owner and am struggling to attach photos to Facebook or change my Skype picture, for example. When I try to attach pictures, instead of opening up all of my pictures under "photos", so that I can pick one, it tries to attach the entire folder.

What might I be doing wrong? I am finding this incredibly frustrating because I have not been able to do a number of things.

Thank you.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

One cna only guess what you are doing since you do not give details

the correct way is using the media browser - in the window that appears when you use the attach command go to the bottom of the source pane on the left and look under media ==> photos ==> PHotos - the contents of your Photos library organized as it is in Photos is there (if it is not quit your browser and restart it)

Well, basically I will be in an application like Facebook. I click on "change photo" and my Macbook will pull up the "photos" folder so I can choose a photo on my hard drive. When I click on the folder, I am thinking that it will open up all my photos but instead it actually tries to upload the entire photo folder which is huge and it fails (of course). No individual photos appear.

Why won't it offer up all of my photos so I can choose one like it does when I am looking up my photos directly in my hard drive? My PC does not have this issue with third party programs. I can easily pick from the photos on my hard drive. But my Mac just doesn't want to cooperate in the same way.

You do not access the Photos library (which is what I'm guessing you are tryint to do

    you use the media browser

Here are detailed instructions for iPhoto which are still very similar - How to Access Files in iPhoto
