Q: removing icons from dock

I have updated to quicken 2016. I am unable to remove the Quicken 2015 from the dock. How do I do it?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Drag the icon about half way up the screen and wait several seconds before you release.

Try to do ctrl- click(secondary click) on the icon and choose remove from dock option.

I have this problem with ibank. I deleted the files and program but cannot get rid of the icon in my doc. I have tried the suggestions but it does not work. Any other ideas? I am using El Capitan
