Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems new messages you send are started from an email address instead of your phone number. I would recommend you read this article, it may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.
Under Send & Receive check if a phone number is checked or an email address for "start new conversation from".
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
