Must you provide Apple ID to get MBA patched?

Hi,

On first login, one is prompted to add their Apple ID. The splash screen references that certain features -- iMessage, Facetime and... App Store require this.

So, my question is, if one does not submit the Apple ID credential, will the MBA not receive updates? Or, will it only receive updates for OS (security type) components and the App Store stuff will not get updated?

Also, if one wanted to change this setting later how would you go about that?

Thanks.

Yes, provided those options are selected in System Preferences > App Store. Updates for apps purchased from the Mac App Store will require that you sign in using the Apple ID used to purchase them.

To sign out of the App Store, choose Sign Out from the Store menu.

If you don't want to sign in for the purposes of using FaceTime, Messages, or other services requiring your Apple ID credentials that's OK. The following Apple Support document enumerates those services: What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password - Apple Support
