my ipad mini will not print to my canon mg2900 series wireless printer

i recently purchased a canon mg2900 series wireless printer. my main goal was to print from my ipad mini.

the printer is all set up and i can print from my pc but the ipad mini does not recognize the printer.

I was told by the store that this printer model would allow me to do so. any suggestions?
