Using airport express base station as a print server

I am thinking about buying an airport express base station to use as a print server. I have a usb only printer which I would like to use around the house wirelessly. Can I use the base station for this purpose without it being permanently linked to my wifi modem router?

Yes, in most cases. The problem here is that not all printers are supported, and Apple does not provide a list of compatible devices, so you will not really know if your printer will work until you try it out.

For that reason, it would be a good idea to understand the store's return policy before you buy.

Keep in mind that only the print function will work when you use the AirPort Express, so if you have an All-in-One type of device, the "scan", "copy", "maintenance" and other advanced functions will not be supported.
