imovie upgrade challenges

I am running imovie 9.09 and wanted to upgrade to 10.1 om my mac that is running IOS 10.7.5

I believe I have the right prereq's to upgrade but it is not going well.

On the MAC App Store Preview screen I see a box that says "View in Mac App Store".

When I click on it, I get a message "this link needs to be opened with an Application. Send to:

I'm not sure what application to pick from the available choices.

I picked App Store and I went to the App Store screen for version 10.1

On this screen I only have the choice to "accept" which I do.

I am prompted for my password but nothing ever happens thereafter.

What am I missing???

"my mac that is running IOS 10.7.5" You mean OS 10.7.5? (IOS is the iPhone OS). You need to update your operating system to Yosemite (OS 10.10) or later before you can update from iMovie 9 to iMovie 10.1.

Thanks GeeD...I should have read the fine print better. I have since upgraded to OS10.1 and have Imovie 10.1 running ( but not without some new issues to sort through)
