Key sequence Command-Shift-7 starts screen shot

My Mac responds to key sequence Command-Shift-7 with the Screen Shot Selection function (a system wide function) instead of opening the scopes window in FCP X. Normally Command-Shift-4 is the Screen Shot command (which still works). I checked System Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts and it correctly shows the 4 key and not the 7.

The FCP X Custom Commands setting is correct - it shows Command-Shift-7 should open the scopes.

This mixup seems to work system-wide now - any app - not just FCP X.

Any ideas?

TTry resetting your system pref keyboard shortcuts.

Not sure I understood you Tom. I did reset the System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts using the Restore Defaults button. Is that what you meant? It didn't help.

AAre you using an extended keyboard with a keypad? Which 7 are you using?

I think Tom meant clicking on "Restore Defaults" in the System Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts.

I have the wired extended keyboard. I'm using the main 7 key shared with &. It used to work in the past. I just can't figure out what changed it. Maybe a third party app but if so I don't know what.

YYou might try the El Capitan forum. Larger user base and maybe someone has heard of this before.

In the process of writing in the El Captan forum I thought of a possible culprit and confirmed it.

An app called CloudApp was duplicating the screenshot command keyboard shortcut with Command-Shift-7. I changed that app's settings and it now works correctly.
