Tried the SMC reset but it hasn't done the trick. Struggling now as I rely on my laptop for work and everytime I try and make an appointment in an Apple Store, they never have any appointments.

Hi. Your in the laptop forum. So does anything happen? power light, screen flicker, startup chime? Did you try a pram reset? Command/Option/P/R keys at startup holding down the power button also for three chimes? Hard reset, hold down power button for 10 seconds?
My best suggestion is to buy a new charger. OR, check the inside and around the edges of the MagSafe port and adapter. My guess is you either fried the charger somehow, or got the port and/or adapter dirty.
