Matching email folders between PC and iphone

Hi the email folders of my PC and iPhone 4 don't match up.

There is one personally created folder on my PC that doesn't show up on my iPhone 4 email.

Also email deleted on my iPhone 4 doesn't delete on my PC.

Any suggestions?

I made a sub folder for a group of emails on my PC. But this folder doesn't show up on my iPhone 4.

and it won’t.

POP email is downloaded to your device then deleted from the server.

IMAP leaves it on the server. It can then be seen by all devices.

When you delete it on any device it i no longer seen by any device.

According to my iPhone I am using pop. So you're saying better to use imap?

How would one change this setting?

The thing is... this didn't happen when I first got the iPhone 4. Only after a year my data got erased, and the phone didn't accept the backup. So I had to do the email account again and then I had this issue of the email no longer being connected between PC and iPhone.
