Syncing a new phone

Last night I backed my phone up to the computer on iTunes as I knew I was getting a new phone today. When I have plugged the new phone it at first it was showing really old back up dates nothing from last night but when I went onto the iPhone setting on iTunes it says the phone has never been backed up to this computer which means I Have lost everything from my phone can anyone please help me???
