Mid 2010 MacBook Xcode 7 Simulator Issues

Hi all,

I have a mid 2010 white MacBook (specs below) and I'm starting out with simple iOS development. I installed Xcode and it all runs nicely enough but the simulator will not work. I always get a spinning wheel and occasionally a blank simulator window. Is there any way to fix this or do I need a new computer?

2.4Ghz Core2Duo

3GB RAM

OSX 10.11.1

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)
