New Macbook Pro experiences short hangs: App Nap?

I recently upgraded from an old Macbook Air to a new Macbook Pro (Retina 13-inch, Early 2015). Generally speaking, the performance is fine, but I've noticed that when switching apps (or even clicking the URL bar in Safari), there will occasionally be short periods of unresponsiveness -- maybe a second or two (no beach balls or anything). It has begun to get annoying. I never experienced this on my Macbook Air. Aside from the hardware change, the only other big difference between the two machines is the upgrade to El Capitan (10.11.1) from Yosemite. The Pro obviously has much better specs and more RAM. I've watched Activity Monitor from time to time, but haven't noticed anything sucking up a ton of CPU or anything.

Does anyone else experience this or know what it might be related to? Is this the infamous "App Nap"? But I notice it most often (intermittently) in Safari when clicking on the URL bar while I'm already in the app and browsing, but I do experience it at other times in other applications as well, especially right after switching to them.

Thanks for your help.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.
