ATV low data rate.

ATV low data rate.

I Am using the latest AirPort Extreme & it's extended with an Airport Express. The AX is located in the bedroom where there is a Gen3 ATV. The data rate for the MPB, iPhone & iPad are all "Excellent". Only the ATV has a "Good" date rate. We are having trouble with downloading & picture quality. We have restarted, but that did not help any.

Before I reset the ATV, is there something else that might cause only the ATV to have a low data rate?

From what I've seen over the years here in these communities, the Apple TV doesn't like extended networks.

I connect my remote base stations by ethernet to the router and set them up in bridging mode.

If I have to run an Ethernet cable that long, would it not be better to run it to the ATV? I only extended the network in hopes of improving the data rate for the ATV.

It may well be, you know your circumstances better than I do.

Pros. a bridged base station will produce better throughput for all devices.

Cons. if you move a device away from the base station and need to use the other base station you will manually need to change networks.

OK, thanks. I have to go and pick up a long Ethernet cable and try the bridge mode first to see if that does the trick.
