With Latest upgrade (12.3.1.23) I cannot search my Device for music

Since I updated to iTunes 12.3.1.23 I cannot do a search on my Device.

I have a Windows 10 64 bit machine.

I use to be able to search my device (Ipod 4th gen, 64 Meg) with iTunes. (and just the device).

I find that this feature has gone missing.. I can do a search for "My Library" or "iTunes" store, but this is inadequate.

It does not search the device whatsoever!

The column browser might be useful, but in this case it is totally useless. I just want to see if I have a certain song on my ipod, and which playlist it is in (for instance). It was so easy on earlier versions of itunes... Why would you get rid of such a useful tool!

Is there any way to do this? or get the ability to do this back?
