speaker and audio is not emitting sound

I've been having this iPhone 4S for more than three years and just now my sound is keep on cutting off every time i try to make a call or use my headphones to listen to music. It is very irritating and i tried to reset all my settings and will not work. It only works when one of my notifications buzz and i can hear the sound but after all my notifications go crazy the sound is lost. I don't know what to do.

I had a similar problem on my iphone 4. But in my case, sound would come through headphones, but not through phone speakers.

The problem was intermittent. I took it to the genius bar who suggested doing a clean restore, i.e. restoring the device as new . And that helped. It has never lost sound again.

So it looks like it could be a software glitch for you too.
