My phone does not show call history neither any other function in phone book work

Which version of iOS are you using?

Have you done force restart?

am having the same problem as Mayuridhanuka .... I cant access phone book

I have iPhone 5 I just upgraded it to ios9.1

i restarted my phone nothing happened

Do you mean Contacts app cannot opened?

Or there's no entries in Contacts?

Do you use Google or Yahoo or HotMail or all of them?

no my contacts works .. i can't make phone calls, see phone log, missed calls etc .... the only way to make a phone call is by choosing from contacts .

even when i try to open phone from setting it wont open

You can add favourites using the Contacts app that will populate the Favourites tab (see screenshot in the first post from OP, kind of speed dial)

Below are the basic troubleshooting steps you can do:

Restore from backup

If no joy do

Restore as new
