Casio keyboard midi usb not cot connecting

First time Garageband user trying to use a CasioCTK-551/-558 keyboard with OS10.8.5 mini using a midi interface to usb port cable. Not getting anything from keyboard to garageband. Need assistance. Thanks

Connect the cable marked "in" to the MIDI "out" socket and connect the cable marked "out to the MIDI "in" socket.
