Q: brand new MacPro won't recognise USB stick

Just bought a brand new MacPro in Ireland. Opened the box in Paris. Tech support not providing international numbers. Problem is that the laptop is not recognising my USB sticks which have files I need to use.

What is the format of the stick?
Does it show in Disk Utility?
Does it show in System Profiler under USB
