Multiple password requests, old pages with back button.

What is up with iTunes? The store keeps making multiple password requests, up to four times. It completely ignore when I check the button not to request passwords on free downloads. When I finally do get to download, if it is a movie, it will sometimes download the item up to three times. Another thing I have noticed, (this also occurs in Safari), if I hit the back button, I get the page from last week, not the current page I was on. All this has happened since the El Capitan "upgrade". Is there a preference I missed somewhere? I have the never require password preference checked in iTunes preferences, so it is not there. I am using an iMac with all the latest versions, (10.11.1 on the system, 12.3.1.23 for iTunes).
