Graphics card to drive Thunderbolt display for Mac Pro (Early 2009)

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving!

Can anyone recommend a graphics card for an early 2009 Mac Pro to drive Apple's Thunderbolt display?

To my knowledge (and experience), the stock ATI Radeon HD 4870 does not drive the display when the Thunderbolt cable from the monitor is connected to the card's Mini DisplayPort.

Thank you!

lllaass is correct. To use ANY ThunderBolt devices, a computer must have left the factory with ThunderBolt capability on board. It cannot be added later.

There is one PC that offers a daughter card that can be added later, but that computer is already ThunderBolt-capable, and the hardware was made optional to make the mother board cheaper.
