Can I exchange instore? UK

Hi,

I've been given an apple watch which was ordered for me online yesterday.

Can I take it back to a store to exchange for an ipad? its all new in packaging and I have the order number etc but I wasn't the purchaser.

I don't want to get the purchaser involved as it was a gift but I would rather have an ipad.

Im in the UK
