Mail was crashing my machine until I upgraded the system - now Mail works but getting beach ball of death sometimes, it's very frustrating. I have run virus software and deleted all the trash mail from all the email accounts. Is anyone else having issues with mail and is there a quick fix?
The first step is to get rid of your worthless "anti-virus" software. Please back up all data, then remove it according to the developer's instructions. If you still have a problem after doing that, post again.
The anti-virus software is ClamXav 2.6.4 and has been helpful in detecting virus coming in via mail. The machine is backed up regularly.
I don't understand what you mean by removing all the data (in this case 700GB roughly) according to the developer's instructions. What developer?

I didn't write that. I wrote that you should back up all data, then remove only the "anti-virus" software. "The developer" is the developer of that software.
