Q: How can I get my iPod touch to work? (Read my question summary for better details).

My iPod touch 5th generation has not been properly working lately. Basically, I hear notifications, but the screen is black. The biggest problem, though, is that both the power and home buttons are broke and pushed in. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

Attempt to make a backup of the device and make an appointment to the Genius Bar. The device is failing. If the home button and the sleep/wake buttons are broken, then there is no way for you to do any user troubleshooting. Now the screen is black. What else has to break before you get it serviced?

How do you back it up? Haha, I thought I was a 'techie' but I guess I suck when it comes to this stuff?

Backups are made either in iTunes or iCloud. See this support document to determine what you want to do. About backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
