I have deleted all my photos from my MAC however Storage shows I still have 15gb of photos stored somewhere. Any ideas how this can be the case

I have a Mac with the latest version of IOS and the latest version of photos. I have deleted all of my photos from my hard drive. However in El Capitan, Storage is still showing 15gbits worth of photos on my Mac. How can this be?

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
