Check to see if the battery is swollen. That can cause such problems since it applies pressure on the underside of the trackpad.

I don't really know what the model number is. It's a 13" Purchased 2010.
New internal drive four months ago.
I have no way of knowing (I don't think) whether the battery is swollen
or not.

installed about four months ago. The sensitive cursor problem appeared
only about three weeks or so ago.
