my iMessage only works with my apple id but not with my number. I have tried turning off my messages and trying again but it always says to log into my apple ID; so when I message people it comes up as my email... help meee please

When you look at information in Settings>Messages>and you look where the switch is for iMessage, does it show it is activated? If you go to Send & Receive, do you see your phone number listed there, grayed out, and a checkmark beside it? If so, when you look at Start Conversation from, what is checked there?
it always says failed to activate and when I go to Send & receive it has a little loading thing beside my number so I cant click it
