Optical drive not reading DVDs

Hello,

My optical drive for some reason won't read any DVDs that i insert.

When I do put one in, it makes a clacking noise for a couple seconds then ejects the DVD.

I attempted putting an audio CD into the drive to see if it would accept it and it worked fine.

What could be wrong the the drive?

A couple weeks ago i think a small peace of paper fell into the drive? could that be the issue? If so, why do the audio CDs work and not the DVDs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
