Can't clear app update dot

I'm using a fully updated iPad mini. I had the Vine app on here and an update came for it. I hit update in the App Store on the iPad but got a pop up that the app was no longer compatible with iPad mini. So I deleted the app but the red update notification won't disappear from the App Store icon.

I tried the hard reset and syncing with my MacBook iTunes account no luck. I also tried reinstalling the app which wasn't possible.

ANy advice for getting rid of the update notification? Thanks.
