having problems with built in email app iOS 9.2

when i empty my trash & junk mail... there's a number that remains in the folder... even though i go back & check.. to make sure it's emptied...

i'm tired of "deleting" and re adding it to my ipad.... it is more reliable than the outlook app.

any ideas when this might be fixed? microsoft claims it is an apple problem...
