Safari Connectivity cut-outs

Can anyone help?

My MacBook Air is connected to the wifi, but if I leave my computer for a minute without typing anything, Safari cuts out and won't download anything. It's getting really frustrating as I have to switch off the wifi, shut down Safari and start everything up all over again.

Anyone else had the same problem?

thx
