MBP EFI does not detect disk?

I'm trying to boot off a disk on my Macbook Pro 2015 (Model MBP 12,1) with OSX Yosemite.

The disk is in an external reader, which was also used to burn the disk in Disk Utility and works perfectly fine while on OSX.

When I hold Opt during startup to detect the disk, it does not show up.

The disk is detected in Disk Utility, but does not detect the disk when I hold Option and Startup Manager. The Startup Manager however detects the hard drive.

Is there anything I can do to make it show up on the Startup Manager?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

EDIT:

I have updated all firmware and stuff from App Store.

I tried holding C to boot from a disk (as suggested from another thread) but it still didn't work.

Using USBs also didn't work.
