Remove activation lock on a phone

so I put activation lock on my phone as a joke- she left me with her android. Funny thing is my wife can't figure out how to remove it & shes 3000 miles away. Any suggestions on how I could use my new I phone to turn my other phone back on

You can't. You need to remove it from the phone itself and you can't remove it remotely like this.

Contact your wife and give here the username and password so she can enter it on the phone and then she can use it. Otherwise you need to wait for her to return and then do it yourself.
