Apple Mail email address autcomplete not working

I have been using mac for quite long and since last few days my mail address autocomplete working very slowly and is not showing me all options as well. If I quit mail and relaunch it, it works perfectly but then after few minutes start giving problem again. Any idea what can be done? It is quite a pain as one does not remember full email ids nowadays !!
