Gaussian blurring

Dear all,

I would like to know what the algorithm behind the gaussian blurring effect is?

What does amount mean? Pixels? I want to use the blurring option for a research project, than I need to carefully the parameters.

I hope someone has an answer to this.

But is this amount linear?

So if you plot 10% versus 20 - 30 etc... does is has the same scaling?

NO idea,, and I wouldn't be surprised, when it is not linear, not logarithimic Nor hyperbolic nor.... Because humans tend to curves in their senses.

many years ago, forgotton its name, there was a scientific video processir, allowing to measure speeds, distances, angles, could even count points in pic! Probably the much better choosen tool than an artistic meant app
