iMessage / HandOff / FaceTime

From a month ago, just after moving to ElCapitan, i am no more able to use iMessage, HandOff and FaceTime on my MacBook Pro late 2013.

my contacts are not registered on iMessage servers.


After several installations from scratch without any data on the HD -> nOK

Testing my iCloud account on iPhone or my Mac Pro 2008 -> Ok the iCloud account is ok

Testing a new and fresh iCloud account on the MacBook Pro on my user account or another one -> nOk


in the console, there is an amazing tons of errors from Message for example but non only.


Contacting apple care support -> maybe a hadware issue ????

Going to genius apple store -> nothing relative to an hardware issue all is ok.


Does someone have an idea to fix my issue?

That's turning me crazy as i used to work with those tools.


Any solution or idea are welcomed.

when i try to sent a iMessage. It s transform itself on message. After a delay message pops up with a notice like "it is not possible to send the message". it means the system tried to send it thru the iPhone. When I forced iMessage channel the system replies that the user is not registered on iMessage servers.

So all my iMessage contacts are not more available on my Mbp. When they are still available on my iPhone or on my old Mac pro.

In addition the association for message transfer between iPhone and my mbp is no more Working. if I initiate the pairing from the iPhone I cannot concluded it as the mbp do not show the code window for the pairing.

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.

1. Open the Messages preferences window and select the Accounts tab. On the left is a list of the messaging accounts that you've defined. Select iMessage. Make sure that the Apple ID shown is valid. If it is, check the box marked

Enable this account

if it's not already checked.

2. Sign out of iMessage on all your devices and sign back in. If you've enabled two-step verification for the Apple ID that you use with iMessage, you must generate an application-specific password and enter it when prompted. Test.

3. Take this step if you have an iPhone linked to the same Apple ID as the Mac.

Follow the instructions in this support article, under the heading

To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch

If text forwarding is already enabled on the phone, disable it and then re-enable it.

Quit and relaunch Messages on the Mac.

Thank you for your mail.

I tried to do as you presented. But i did not have chance to get iMessage working back on my MBP.

Still blocked.

I do not know why but i get the feeling the issue is link around the association between my MBP and apple services. Would it be possible?

Is there any credential between a MBP serial number for example?

Would it be possible that my laptop is not unique in apple system and so when i want to use them they try to get establish a communication with another computer?

Why i have this idea, is because i had on my laptop several computer with the name of my laptop since i installed a fresh system.

Additionnally i also change my iCloud password to try to remove all bad computer reference in. But it was not successfully.


if you other idea, i appreciate.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View ▹ Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please find bellow, logs i feel be interesting. May be the latest one regarding duplicate account i suspect on apple id's servers.

One element more maybe, each time i start up a e-Device, the system ask to enter my iCloud password. That was not the case before my issue.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

Step 1

The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.

Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”

While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.

Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?

After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Step 2

The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.

Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.

Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.

The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Test while in safe mode by signing in to iMessage with your usual Apple ID. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

thank you.

But yes i followed yet this instruction and test before. And unfortunately this did not fixed my issue.

Even within the guest login or Even the safe mode. 😟


i feel my mac credential is compromise in apple system. but i am not an expert. just a feeling.

But no one from apple care (europe) even support level 2 want or can help me to analyse.

Hi,


My serial number is presented by the system, and apple got it.

What am feeling is there is a double of my system on the apple register.


In few words,

when i want to log in it is possible, but when i want to send a message or receive a message there is a second reference that is served and not mine.

it is as if my laptop had a shadow of a previous installation which has not been updated or deleted.

Can it be possible?

Hi Linc,


After calling a third time the apple's european support (each time an hour of discussion about what the problem is, what have you done, etc... ), they collected from my computer some logs and sent them to i think an (US) american technical team.

After 2 week from this call, all have been back to what it was initially.


I still do not know what has happened and what technical team did, but hopefully for me i'am happy to get all in work again.

I just want to thank you for your hand ans help.
