El Capitano + Word/Excel 2004 .doc / .xls

Just put El Capitan on my machine.

Word 2004 + Excel 2004 is not working any longer.

I"m interested in buying "Pages' + Numbers but will these app be compatible with the early version of Word 2004 ?

Will I be able to open .doc + .xls documents?

Save them into Pages/Numbers format??

Any advise is highly appreciated.
