Delete All in Messages IOS 9

in IOS 8, “delete all" in Messages can delete all conversatio/texts from one sender in a session while keeping the same sender in the favorite list. In IOS 9, however, delete all texts in a session from a sender also delete the same sender from the favorite list.. I remember I saw similar concerns posted in the Forum, but seems unresolved yet?
