iMac 27 inch running slow

Hi folks

My 27 inch iMac is behaving strangely lately. Occasionally it seems to lock up and the pin wheel appears. It feels like its much slower than it was when I first had it.

I've repaired permissions a few times and always get the "Your HD was repaired" successfully notification.

The only suspect sentence I've seen during REPAIR PERMISSIONS is this ;

SUID file "System/Library/Coreservices/RemoteManagement/ARDArgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDA gent" has been modified and will not be rapaired.

I have no idea what this means.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Dan.

Repairing permissions is a waste of time Mac OS X: Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions messages that you can safely ignore - Apple Support

You may just have a piece of incompatible software that is slowing your iMac. Run and post an EtreCheck report please http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

It appears that you installed some malware at some time,

User Launch Agents: (What does this mean?)

[failed] com.zeobit.MacKeeper.Helper.plist [Click for support]

See this user tip on the perils of MacKeeper and for links to instructions on how to uninstall it: Do not install MacKeeper

You can check to see if you've removed all of the files by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name and the developer's name in the file name. For example for CleanMyMac you'd do three searches:

1 - Name contains cleanmymac

2 - Name contains macpaw

3 - Name contains zerobit

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

Old Toad is right, you still have some bits of MacKeeper installed. You've also installed some adware, click on the "Click to remove" next to it's name. The Trusteer software has been a know offender for a long time, your bank probably told you you need it but you don't. Same with the Blackberry software, has been a problem for quite some time.
