Does 160GB iPod Classic dither or truncate 24 bit audio?

Hey folks,

Since I haven't found a definitive answer on this, I thought I'd create a new thread.

I would really like to know if the late 2009 160GB iPod Classic will dither or truncate 24 bit audio down to 16 bit?

Hopefully, we'll get an Apple rep to answer this question once and for all. A lot of people say it truncates audio; yet, others say it dithers, but all I have seen are opinions and no facts.

Let's please stay focused on the question. I couldn't care less if you think "Why 24 bit audio?" "Why don't you just covert all your files to 16 bit?"

The question is simple: Does it dither or truncate?
