Nov 27, 2015 1:03 AM in response to J.Barryby Scorpii,★HelpfulIn the mixer click on the input button on your selected audio track.
You'll get a drop down menu with all the inputs logic sees.
Select the one on your interface that the piano is connected to. Say input 1 on the Focusrite.
Click on input monitoring on the track and you should hear the piano and see the meter register a sound level.
regards,
Scorpii.
PS check in system preferences>sound that the Focusrite is the preferred audio input/output and not the system audio, otherwise you won't get any signal into or out of logic.

Nov 27, 2015 12:51 AM in response to Scorpiiby J.Barry,Thanks for your help, I am very new to using midi with this programme and when you say "In the mixer click on the input button on your selected audio track" therein lies my first problem. Where on earth is the 'mixer'?
I need 'connection for dummies' sorry.
Yours faithfully,
BS

Nov 27, 2015 1:08 AM in response to Scorpiiby J.Barry,Hi Scorpio,
Many thanks for your help I did eventually find the 'mixer' and now have contact with the Logic screen. In all this my basic problem is finding areas on the screen and a guide, much as you get when you buy a new car, that states the mixer is here would be of great assistance. Is there such a beast as the latter?
Cheers,
BS

Nov 29, 2015 11:28 AM in response to uncle fabby Eriksimon,★HelpfulOr even the new manual:
http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10.2/
plugins:
http://help.apple.com/logicpro-instruments/mac/10.2/
http://help.apple.com/logicpro-effects/mac/10.2/
They are also downloadable for free as e-books from the Apple Store. And you can even access them from within the program, from the Help menu.
I prefer the online version, but that is because it is convenient to link to specific pages when answering questions here.
